CHAMBA Cover

This is probably the most exciting news I've had in a while. The cover artist for INK TALES is confirmed and going to knock it out of the park!

Jeffrey "CHAMBA" Cruz!

Here's a loose sketch of the cover. I'll be revealing the final cover when the facebook page is launched. Hopefully soon.

Check out his deviant art page here.

Enjoy!

Pumpkin Problems

I've decided to revisit a short comic that Tennille Owens and I created about a year ago. The original draft had a few things that I definitely wanted to change. The title font and credits weren't legible, some of the narration was out of the 'live area' and the coloured narration boxes blended into the background. It still needs a few tweaks but my major concern is getting a consistent skin colour between all the pages. Trevor Wood (aka My Hero) gave me a quick lesson over Skype on how to fix it. I'll be looking for another artist to draw the second story of 'The Misadventures of Peter Pumpkinhead'. It should be released sometime next year.

If you know of an artist that might like to be the second artist, hit me up on facebook.

One Woman Army

I think the title of this post says it all. Just received Gee Hale's finished Ink Tales story, which is killer! Gee lost half his work a couple of weeks ago because of a broken hard drive but jumped straight back into it. Will have another update shortly. Enjoy!

Kin

I've never done this before but it was a really cool experience and I highly recommend it!
I Skyped Laura Goodings, the Ink Tales artist behind my story 'Kin'.
Living in Melbourne and Laura living on the Gold Coast, we haven't actually met before.
So we chatted whilst I watched her work on our story. Great way to collaborate and give on the spot critiques. I've included some progress shots of the first panel. Enjoy!

Tubed Answers

I think it's been long enough now to reveal the answers to my little quiz that featured in Tubed.
If you pick up a copy of Yuck! Number Seven by Milk Shadow Books (online or at All Star Comics, Melbourne) I included a game into my comic, where you had to name all the viral clips mentioned. Some were obvious but some were quite tricky. Stop reading now if you want to find all 24 references yourself, otherwise here it is!

  2. Free hugs t-shirt from ‘Free Hugs Campaign’.
  3. Treadmill from ‘OK GO – Here it goes again’.

After The Snow Scripted!

As a writer, I can tell you a script is never really finished. Time passes and there's always something that you feel like you NEED to change, for better or worse.

In saying that, I feel that After The Snow is finished to the best of my ability. It feels like I've been working on this script for years. But it hasn't been quite that long.

March 20th 2012 - I sheepishly asked Trevor Wood if I could write up a proposal after seeing a killer image of a dwarf named Doc. Which you can check out here.

May 8th 2013 - I feel like I've finished the final draft of the script. Who knows how long it will be before it sees the light of day. Hopefully before all my hair goes grey!

I thought I'd also attach some concept art for Roth the dwarf.

Enjoy!

In God's Hands

We're slowly getting closer to seeing Ink Tales in print. I just received these wonderful panels from Kate Moon. They're from a story called 'In God's Hands' by Benjamin Plymin.
The talent involved in this book is just astounding. If I was holding Orin (from the Never Ending Story) I would wish this book into completion... but I don't. So you'll have to all wait with me.

Forsaken Prophet

Busy day today. Edited 3 Ink Tales stories, 2 were handed in completed which makes 1 happy editor!
After such a productive day, I thought I'd share yet another Ink Tales preview!

Here's a few panels from a story I wrote called 'Forsaken Prophet' with art by Ary.
I've had this concept since I was in high school, which was a LONG time ago now.
It's obviously changed a lot since then. 16 year old Dale would be doing backflips
right now... let's be honest, 26 year old Dale is doing backflips (well he would be if he
wasn't such a decrepit old man).

Enjoy!

Chasing Dragons

I've got two important things to blog about today.

The first is a preview from veteran Aussie comic creator Bruce Mutard. It's a toned paged from his Ink Tales story "Chasing Dragons".

And if you can take your eyes off it for a second, go and support the Indiegogo campaign for the
Caravan of Comics 2013.
Bruce Mutard, Mirranda Burton, Marijka Gooding, Patrick Alexander, Gregory Mackay, Daniel Hayward and Scarlette Baccini will be touring North America and need your help to get there. All the information can be found at the link above.

Support Australian Comics!

Replica

Here's another Ink Tales preview coming at you!
It's a panel from "Replica" written by myself and illustrated by Andrew Isaac.
This is my robot friend Phil and he's not very happy. But you won't figure out why until the books released.
Enjoy!

Angelica

It seems that there's no stopping the Ink Tales train at the moment.

This beautiful pin up is by Gee Hale.

And this lovely and very deadly lady known as Angelica, is the protagonist from his story 'One Woman Army'.

Enjoy!

Yuck! 7

Yesterday saw Melbourne's biggest comic book launch come and go with a staggering 15 books released on the day! Of course I'm referring to Big Arse 3.

Now the book that I'm pimping out is Yuck! Number Seven by milk shadow books which can be purchased online now!!

The reason may have something to do with my first published story Tubed being in it. You can check out a preview I posted up about it here.

It's a big, dirty, dirty, dirty book that should make you cry yourself to sleep knowing that these people walk around among us, pretending to be normal. And believe me this book is far from normal.

Enjoy!

Tangible Evidence

I thought the dialogue in this particular panel would be a good way to introduce the third preview from Ink Tales.
It's a panel from "Tangible Evidence" written by myself and illustrated by Jason Paulos. This was actually the first story completed for Ink Tales, which was a while back now. Sorry for the delays Mr. Paulos!

Six Numbers

Here's the second preview from Ink Tales, scheduled for release in late 2013.
It's a panel from "Six Numbers" written by Justin Woolley and illustrated by Grange Wallis. Can you guess which train station in Victoria it's set?

INK TALES

So my big project for 2013 will be publishing the Australian anthology 'INK TALES'.
It's a collection of short stories about tattoos, written and drawn by local talents.
At the moment whilst the pages are still coming in, I'll use my blog to show off some previews. The first preview is an image from "A Shadow Inked In Blood" written by
Billy Hysteria and illustrated by Steve Boyd.

I'm Back!

I know it's been a long time between posts but I was busy seeing the world (bragging over... i promise).
I thought it would be appropriate to return with a new design by AintThatDandi. This ones named "Problem with the Stormtrooper Academy".
You can purchase it over at Redbubble.
There'll be a lot more posts from me over the following weeks, so stay tuned kids!
